Levels of Storage (for digitally reformatted materials)

Silver – These digital objects represent physical objects that Wesleyan owns and are in relatively good shape, easily accessible, and easy to digitize again if necessary. Large cropped and color adjusted TIFFs are shared and stored in a Digital Collection service like the CTDA, Shared Shelf Commons, or WesScholar. We do not preserve a second copy. We do not preserve the untouched original RAW file.

Gold – These digital objects represent physical objects that Wesleyan owns but are not in good shape OR are not easily accessible OR there is not physical equivalent OR are not easy to digitize again. Large cropped and color adjusted TIFFs may be shared and stored in a Digital Collection service like the CTDA, Shared Shelf Commons, or WesScholar. We preserve the untouched original RAW file and an uncropped master TIFF separately.

Platinum – These digital objects represent physical objects that meet at least two of the following criteria: Wesleyan does not own OR are not in good shape OR are not easily accessible OR there is no physical equivalent OR are not easy to digitize again. Large cropped and color adjusted TIFFs may be shared and stored in a Digital Collection service like the CTDA, Shared Shelf Commons, or WesScholar. We preserve the untouched original RAW file and an uncropped master TIFF separately.
